After a 20-year absence from her home country of Brazzaville, Maryse embarked on a voyage in search of her identity. There, she reconnected with the tastes of her childhood, the spices, and herbal teas that held nostalgic memories. As she explored, she discovered new herbs and spices, and her heart was captivated by this newfound treasure.
Driven by her fascination and deep love for all things natural, Maryse made a life-changing decision. She left Italy and settled in Brussels, where she pursued studies in naturopathy. Along the way, she connected with local African suppliers from different corners of the continent, ensuring that these precious goods could reach the Belgian market.
Her mission with KEMBO & Les saveurs d’Afrique was clear: tointroduce medicinal African spices and herbal teas to both Belgians and Afro-descendants, helping them reconnect with their origins and rediscover the flavors of their childhood. Additionally, Maryse aimed to share this wealth with other cultures that were unfamiliar with these treasures.
As a naturopath, Maryse guides her clients on a wellness journey, offering tailored advice and personalized support based on individual needs. The product range includes spices, herbal teas, and 100% natural handmade body jars of butter, carefully crafted without any chemical additives. The focus is on ethical and environmentally-friendly products.
Sourcing directly from Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Congo, and Cameroon, Maryse’s initiative also aims to support African women’s associations involved in this project. By promoting these products, she creates opportunities for these associations to thrive and make a positive impact.
Kembo and the Flavors of Africais not just a business; it’s a heartfelt endeavor to preserve tradition, promote well-being, and celebrate the richness of African culture.
